firewall_driver in nova-dist.conf

Is there a reason for this to be in /usr/share/nova/nova-dist.conf ?

Warning

Reason: nova-network is deprecated, as are any related configuration options."
Since "use_neutron" is default, it appears to be inappropriate to set
firewall_driver at all, and especially to set it to the Iptables one.
For my Ocata deployments, I had explicitly set firewall_driver to the
Noop one (in nova.conf), but when I went to Pike, I decided to clean
up some of the deprecated options in my config, and, according to the
docs (above), it seemed like firewall_driver should be removed
completely.... then I ran into an obscure issue (sometimes when an
instance got terminated, all other instances on the same compute node
became unreachable), which turned out to be nova and neutron fighting
over the content of the iptables "FORWARD" chain. I was unaware of the
setting in nova-dist.conf (which led to a "fun" diagnostic process)
If there's not a good reason for the option to be there, I suppose I
can submit a bug report....?

Delaying this week's RDO test days ?

Hi,
We're currently a bit behind in terms of trunk repository promotions
for the m3 queens milestone.
We are not very confident that we can get all the issues sorted out in
time for the test day so I would like to suggest we push the test days
next week.
Instead of February 8th/9th, we would instead run the test days on the
15th/16th.
Ideally we would reach a consensus before wednesday's RDO meeting at
which point it would be too late.

MongoDB retired from RDO for Queens

MongoDB has been retired from the RDO repository for Queens. Reach out to

DLRN Fedora Builder Updates
The RDO Trunk builder was updated to the latest DLRN version on January
30th and a new DLRN Fedora builder machine was created. Fedora RDO Trunk
could no longer be built on an CentOS-based DLRN machine, due to
incompatibilities between yum and the rich dependencies found in some
Fedora packages. If you have any questions about the update or have been
running into any problems which you think might be related, reach out to
Javier Pena [jpena(a)redhat.com].

to do if we want to move forward with this idea.

Easily search code in RDO's repositories
RDO's hundreds of packaging and tooling repositories makes it tedious if
you want to search for a pattern that could be used in different projects.
OpenStack provides an implementation of Hound
<https://github.com/etsy/hound>, a source code search engine, in order to
let the community search its 1500+ git repositories easily:
codesearch.openstack.org
We managed to stand up a proof of concept for the RDO community
repositories and it is available at codesearch.rdoproject.org. The
implementation required a lot of fine tuning due to some particularities of
our repositories but the code will be pushed up to rdo-infra soon.
RDO’s Infrastructure Server Metrics are now Available
Curious about the inner working of the RDO servers? From network packets to
disk and swap usage, these metrics will show you the current status of RDO,
allowing for improved visibility and accessibility.

Providing service VM images in RDO
Bernard Cafarelli has been working on Octavia in order to automate the
process of providing service VM (called amphorae) images in RDO. This
allows for a far easier install and maintenance for the user, since TripleO
can consume the image directly. It also ensures up-to-date amphora images,
and allows us to test and confirm that amphora works properly with the
latest changes.
The current plan is to create a periodic job to rebuild the images daily,
then upload them to images.rdoproject.org. This ensures that the packages
in the image will be up-to-date at all times, and will help Octavia
adoption.

DevConf Recap (Jan 26-28)
Our RDO booth presence at Devconf 2018 <https://devconf.cz/cz/2018> was the
most successful yet! We put together a team of 7 people who all focused on
slightly different areas, which allowed us to answer a variety of
questions. We had some great conversations about OpenStack and RDO, and
received positive feedback as well as suggestions for improvement in
specific areas.
We also helped several people who were looking into getting started with
TripleO and RDO. This year we had far more people asking about the
technology and interested in specific details. One of the highlights of the
show was the fact that our demo was connected with the ManageIQ instance in
the neighbor booth. This was a great example of cooperation between teams
and also a good demonstration to show how these technologies fit together.
FOSDEM Recap (Feb 3-4)
After DevConf, several members of the RDO community were at FOSDEM
<http://fosdem.org/> – the annual Free and Open Source software conference.
The event draws more than 8,000 free software enthusiasts from all over
Europe and around the world. The RDO community showed up in force to staff
the OpenStack table in the expo hall. Several OpenStack presentations were
given in the Virtualization devroom.
Also, on the day before FOSDEM (Friday, February 2nd), we participated in
the CentOS Dojo at the Marriott

Haïkel Guémar, Matthias Runge, Thomas Oulevey, and Spyros Trigazis gave

RHOSP 10 failed overcloud deployment

Hello,
As previously stated in my previous mail on this list , I am trying to deploy OpenStack 10 using OpenStack Platform Director 10.
I am using a bare-metal server with RedHat 7.4, on which I have created 3 VMs: 1st VM is the undercloud node, 2nd VM is the overcloud controller node and the 3rd VM is the overcloud compute node.
The bare-metal server I am using is also my KVM hypervisor for the overcloud.
I managed to provision my overcloud nodes and now I am stuck at performing overcloud deployment.
The command I am running is:
openstack --debug overcloud deploy --templates ~/templates --control-scale 1 --compute-scale 1 --control-flavor control --compute-flavor compute -e ~/templates/environments/network-isolation.yaml -e ~/templates/environments/network-environment.yaml --ntp-server pool.ntp.org --neutron-network-type vxlan --neutron-tunnel-types vxlan.
I connected via ssh with heat-admin user on my controller and compute nodes. I've run the following command to gather logs:
sudo journalctl -u os-collect-config
I think the problem is on my controller node, because I've noticed the following messages in the output of the above command:
os-collect-config[2996]: Source [ec2] Unavailable.
os-collect-config[2996]: /var/lib/os-collect-config/local-data not found. Skipping
os-collect-config[2996]: No local metadata found (['/var/lib/os-collect-config/local-data']
These messages repeat for various times in the output of the above command.
On my underclud VM, I've noticed that overcloud deployment remains stuck when running wait_for_stack_ready function from /usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/tripleoclient/utils.py.
I also intend to add some logs in /usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/os_collect_config/collect.py to see what causes the error message: Source [ec2] Unavailable
I think I have an error in my templates, but I don't figure out which yet. Do you know what may cause this?
