Heya,
I'm trying to write some docs for setting up High Availability (HA) with
RDO. I should note that Fabio Dinitto did most of the work related to
HA and he has some notes here[1][2].
I'm trying to make them useful for RDO users. Deriving from Fabio's
work, I've posted Nova, Neutron, Cinder, Glance, Keystone docs
here[3][4][5][6][7]. AIUI, these configurations are primarily based on
Havana-based setup, and may need some further tweaks if these are being
used for IceHouse-based setups.
Fabio and other folks who have more HA knowledge, please comment and
correct me if I said something wrong.

Are you intentionally leaving out HAProxy? This was a core component
of the HA architecture we came up with.

Are you intentionally leaving out HAProxy?
No, I didn't. It's just an in-progress work, so it'll be added too. By
HAProxy I presume you're referring to this[1]. It'll also be added to
the wikis.
I'll try to make a high-level document which will include references to
all the wiki pages.

Need to set client/server timeouts for the qpid proxy. This should be
no less that 60, but depends on your qpid heartbeat. 120s is probably
a good starting point.
I think we need to collapse some of the wiki pages. There are now 2-3
docs describing how to use haproxy with OpenStack.

One additional comment. The horizon proxy should use http mode and
insert a cookie for persistence. The load balancer host group in
astapor currently does this.

/me hasn't configured haproxy before, just wondering, I assume this is
section in haproxy.conf you're referring to where I set the qpid
timeout:

Yes. That is half of it, at least. The default client/server timeout
is 10s, set in the "defaults" section. You can override that per
proxy. You want the client timeout in the frontend and the server
timeout in the backend. Actually, the mysql proxy in your wiki page
does this, setting the timeouts to 90s.
