[rdo-list] Swift new starter questions (POC)

Hello, We are currently playing with swift and try to find out if it would be useful for our needs. We would use the latest mitaka release. It would be a multi-region deployment in around 4-5 different countries/DCs with a total size of 5 TB and millions of small files. Worst case RTT between two locations would be 400ms. I came across some questions I want to ask. 1) As far as I understood Swift returns a 200 OK if the majority of replicas are written. Is it possible to change this ratio? 2) Does the write affinity now includes containers and accounts? Saw a presentation from the Symantic guys on the Openstack summit where this topic came up. And the acces time spikes if this information are transferred from the WAN. 2a) If not does it make sense to do some kind of warm up and get the container and account information saved in memcache for faster access? Anybody experience at this approach? 3) Lets say we have 5 regions and a replication factor of 3. When we use write affinity 12 copies would be written in a local cluster and then in the background replicated to the other regions? Isn't there a better way and avoid unnecessary local writes if they would be transferred away anyway? 4) What will happen if the WAN connection to a DC fails is there an option to not create a another replication in other DCs just because the WAN is of fore some minutes? 5) In a Swift multi region deployment is it possible to have local Keystone services in every region/DC or does all authentication need to come from the same keytone machine? [rdo-list] New 3rd party testing jobs & the state of the RDO promotion jobs (all blocked)

Promotion jobs -------------- As I took responsibility for the RDO image promotion pipelines[1] during trown's absence, let me recap what's up with the Master/Mitaka/Liberty jobs as they are all blocked. Master: It's now blocked by a bug in Mistral[2] to which we got a promise from the Mistra PTL that it will be fixed today or tomorrow. Mitaka & Liberty: both are blocked by an error during openstack undercloud install[3], looks like a packaging error. This bug needs attention. What's new ---------- We implemented 3rd party *testing* jobs, that are using the unpromoted images to run. They can be very useful if you're testing a change that's supposed to fix a promotion error. They can be invoked by commenting 'rdo-ci-testing' on review.openstack.org changes. Currently it doesn't trigger on every project, let me know if you need to add one. Also ping me if you're having trouble with them. I'm adarazs on #rdo. Thanks a lot Christopher for the suggestions. Marius: Thanks a lot for helping me out. I am attaching the requested logs. I tried to redeploy overcloud with 3 controller but the issue remains the same. Overcloud stack deployment is failing at Post-deployment configuration steps as before. When I was going to /var/log/messages for different services, it seems there is issue with haproxy service. Neutron service is failing too and the service endpoints being configured through puppet are not reachable for all failed service. I have attached os-collect-config journals from all four nodes. Please let me know if there is any other logs or any other troubleshooting steps which I can implement. [rdo-list] Failure to build from source for Horizon: three new dependencies (need reviews)

Hi, There's a FTBFS for Horizon, they've added three new dependencies [1]. The review.rdo for the ftbfs is here [2]. Considering we're friday and we're likely to be the weekend without a consistent build, I've figured I'd at least go ahead and submit reviews for them ASAP. [rdo-list] Overcloud pacemaker services restart behavior causes downtime

Hi all, I have an overcloud with 3 controller nodes, everything is working fine, the problem is when I reboot one of the controllers. When the node comes online, all the services (nova-api, neutron-server) on the other nodes are also restarted, causing a couple of minutes of downtime until everything is recovered. In the example below I restarted controller2 and I see these messages on controller0. [rdo-list] [tripleo] Troubles deploying Libery with HA setup

Hello, I'm deploying Liberty on a set of server using tripleo. I imported and correctly introspected 6 nodes. First i did a setup with 1 controller node and 3 computing nodes. No issues during this deploy, everything went fine. On this deployment i used custom hostname formats (defined via yaml environment file) and custom dns_domain (changed in /etc/nova/nova.conf and /etc/neutron/dhcp_agent.ini and all /usr/share/openstack-tripleo-heat-templates/*.yaml files that contains localdomain) Now I'm working to have a 3 controller setup with HA. I'm running this command to deploy: openstack overcloud deploy --templates -e /usr/share/openstack-tripleo-heat-templates/environments/network-isolation.yaml -e ~/templates/network-environment.yaml -e ~/templates/puppet-ceph-external.yaml -e ~/hostname-nostri.yaml --neutron-bridge-mappings datacentre:br-ex,storage-pub:br-stg-pub -e /usr/share/openstack-tripleo-heat-templates/environments/puppet-pacemaker.yaml --ntp-server timesrv1 --control-scale 3 --compute-scale 3 --ceph-storage-scale 0 --control-flavor controlhp --compute-flavor computehp --neutron-network-type vxlan --neutron-tunnel-types vxlan --verbose --debug --log-file overcloud_$(date +%T).log I see that stack creation starts and correctly deploy os on the nodes. Nodes are named according to ControllerHostnameFormat and ComputeHostnameFormat that i specified into ~/hostname-nostri.yaml. Everything goes well until HA configuration starts. I see this stack creation failing: overcloud-ControllerNodesPostDeployment-bbp3c47jgau2-ControllerLoadBalancerDeployment_Step1-sla6ce7n2arq The error message of the deployment command is: Stack failed with status: Resource CREATE failed: resources.ControllerLoadBalancerDeployment_Step1: resources.ControllerNodesPostDeployment.Error: resources[0]: Deployment to server failed: deploy_status_code: Deployment exited with non-zero status code: 6 Heat Stack create failed. But as far as i can see corosync will never start because /etc/corosync/corosync.conf file is missing. in /etc/hosts opsctrl{0-2} are correctly defined and each host can talk with the others. I'm stuck and i don't know what to do. Anyone had similar issues? I'm missing something that i have to enter in the configuration? I'm using a in-house mirror of rdo-release made on April 20, and custom images build from rhel image and this repository. A week ago i tried with latest repository but had the same error (and also others, that's why i returned to this older mirror that was working).
