[Rdo-list] An idea to improve RDO CI coverage

Hi rdo-list,
We did something that bothered me a lot - we shipped what we
considered a stable GA for Liberty and we got some reports of packages
that were outright broken in the release.
This means some packages were not tested at all or else we would have
found these issues.
So I've went on to neglect my sleep, friends, wife and kids (okay, not
really... okay, maybe a little bit) because I was obsessed about
finding ways to improve our CI coverage in RDO to prevent this from
happening.
Testing everything in OpenStack is hard [1] and I'm convinced you can
agree with me.
So today I am launching the idea I've been working on in hope that it
becomes useful - I called it WeIRDO [2] and it stands for "We [
Install | Integrate | Improve ] RDO".
I've written a blog post [3] about the background, context and what
WeIRDO is about.
I would love to hear your thoughts about it - if you'd like to
contribute that is even better !

Getting Started with Tripleo by Adam Young
OpenStack is big. I’ve been focused on my little corner of it, Keystone,
for a long time. Now, it is time for me to help out with some of the
more downstream aspects of configuring RDO deployments. In order to do
so, I need to do an RDO deployment. Until recently, this has meant
Packstack. However, Packstack really is not meant for production
deployments. RDO manager is the right tool for that. So, I am gearing up

Thinking outside the box and outside the gate to improve OpenStack and

I recently explained how testing everything in OpenStack is hard. The
reality is that the RDO community has finite resources. Testing
everything is not just hard, it’s time consuming and expensive. I’ve
been thinking a lot about how to tackle this and experimented around
ways to improve our test coverage in this context.

[Rdo-list] Quickstart and Neutron with an existing external network on Liberty

I am endeavoring to follow along with this page (linked from the Quickstart) on Liberty:

I get stuck pretty quickly as after having run the packstack installation as specified I don't have a /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-br-ex file to edit (the page above specifically says it will already exist). When I do ip addr I can however see the interface:

[Rdo-list] Etherpad for upcoming test days

Hi rdo-list,
As you might already know, we're aiming to do RDO test days next week
on December 10 and 11th.
We have already begun testing Mitaka ahead of time in an attempt to
identify and resolve bugs identified by CI.
I have created an etherpad to document currently known issues [1].
We should also use it to centralize any relevant information about the
test days.

[Rdo-list] Autoscaling stack croaks warning messages about trustee

Hi, All
I have tried to run an autoscaling stack by Heat
on the Openstack Liberty environment.
The environment consists of the RHEL7.1 nodes and
Openstack Liberty was installed by PackStack.
At the first time I ran an autoscaling stack, it didn't work
because of an installation problem; python-redis had not been
installed.
After installation of python-redis, I tried again and the
autoscaling stack is working now.
But I found another problem. The following message
periodically appears in /var/log/heat/heat-engine.log
2015-12-01 17:23:25.034 6231 WARNING heat.common.context [req-22848a8b-892b-4996-bf12-56d17181d878 - f023b311e4364188be9dc2ca33726467] Using the keystone_authtoken user as the heat trustee user directly is deprecated. Please add the trustee credentials you need to the trustee section of your heat.conf file.
I looked /etc/heat/heat.conf made by PackStack and
confirmed no trustee section is in it.
I also compared the content of my heat.conf with the following
web page.

I noticed the following things besides the trustee section issue.
(A) My heat.conf has some definitions in below
which aren't used in the DEFAULT section of
the draft web page.

(B) The keystone_authtoken sections have many differences.

[Rdo-list] nova boot problem

Hello,
I've upgraded my test OpenStack setup from Juno to Kilo and i got this
problem when i try to boot an instance:
"message": "Cannot load 'supported_hv_specs' in the base class
i'm not really shure what's the problem my guess is that some python modules
didn't get upgraded...
