[all] Revisiting RDO Technical Definition of Done

Hi all, we as a community last discussed RDO definition of done more than a year ago and it was documented[1] In the meantime we have multiple changes in the RDO promotion process, most significant is that we do not run all the CI promotion jobs in the single Jenkins pipeline, instead there is now an increasing number of periodic Zuul jobs in review.rdoproject.org reporting to DLRN API database. Promotion is performed asynchronously when all the required jobs report success. At the same time, TripleO as the deployment project with the most coverage in the promotion CI, has moved to be completely containerized in Queens. While RDO does provide container registry which is used with RDO Trunk, there aren't currently plans to provide containers built from the stable RPM builds as discussed on this list [2] around Pike GA. Even if we do all the work listed in [2] problem stays that containers are currently installer specific and we cannot realistically provide separate set of containers for each of TripleO, Kolla, OSA... Proposal would be to redefine DoD as follows: - RDO GA release delivers RPM packages via CentOS Cloud SIG repos, built from pristine upstream source tarballs - CI promotion GA criteria is changed from Jenkins pipeline to the list of jobs running with RPM packages directly, initial set would be all weirdo jobs running in [3] - TripleO jobs would not be part of RDO GA criteria since TripelO now requires containers which RDO will not ship.TripleO promotion CI will continue running with containers built with RDO Trunk packages. I'm adding this topic on the agenda for the RDO meeting today, I won't be able to join but we need to get that discussion going so we have updated DoD ready for Queens GA. Removing mongodb from RDO

Hi, During previous OpenStack releases, projects using mongodb as backend (as telemetry or zaqar) have moved to other technologies for data persistence and mongo is not longer the default or preferred backend. In this cycle (Queens), mongodb packages will be retired from RDO repositories under the assumption that users have implemented any of the alternatives for each affected service (or are in the process of doing it). This will happen in next weeks and will not affect previous releases. If you have any question or you think that mongo should be maintained in RDO, please feel free to let us know in this thread or reach us in #rdo so that we can consider all implications of this decision. TripleO Deployment in KVM Virtual Lab

Hi Folks, I am trying to deploy tripleO in my KVM virtual environment. while importing the nodes in undercloud or director i am getting the following error: (undercloud) [stack@director ~]$ openstack baremetal import --json antil/instak.json This command is deprecated. My deployment is got stuck because of their error. *Below is the my setup:* - KVM hypervisor = CentOS 7 ( 152 GB RAM, 72 CPU and 1 TB disk) & Nested virtualization enabled - Director or Under Cloud VM = CentOS 7 ( 40 GB RAM, 12 VPCU and 200 GB HDD) - Three other VMs are also created for overcloud , compute1, compute2 & Controller. - Two VLAN are used - External (NAT) and Provision ( Host only Network) Thanks in advance !!!! -- Best Regards Pradeep Kumar

ppc64le and erlang-sd_notify

Hi All, When trying to install/test RDO on a ppc64le system we hit an issue that with --- Error: Package: erlang-sd_notify-0.1-9.el7.ppc64le (delorean-queens-testing) Requires: erlang(erl_nif_version) = 2.11 Available: erlang-erts-R16B-03.18.el7.ppc64le (epel) erlang(erl_nif_version) = 2.4 Available: erlang-erts-18.3.4.5-4.el7.ppc64le (delorean-queens-testing) erlang(erl_nif_version) = 2.10 Error: Package: erlang-sd_notify-0.1-9.el7.ppc64le (delorean-queens-testing) Requires: erlang(erl_nif_version) = 2.11 Available: erlang-erts-R16B-03.18.el7.ppc64le (epel) erlang(erl_nif_version) = 2.4 Installing: erlang-erts-18.3.4.5-4.el7.ppc64le (delorean-queens-testing) erlang(erl_nif_version) = 2.10 You could try using --skip-broken to work around the problem You could try running: rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest --- It seems that at the time erlang-sd_notify there was a divergence in the nif_version provided by ppc64le. You can see that here: erlang-sd_notify-0.1-9.el7.aarch64.rpm erlang(erl_nif_version) = 2.10 erlang-sd_notify-0.1-9.el7.ppc64le.rpm erlang(erl_nif_version) = 2.11 erlang-sd_notify-0.1-9.el7.x86_64.rpm erlang(erl_nif_version) = 2.10 I've rebuilt erlang-sd_notify (https://cbs.centos.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=270238) and now the nif_version is consistent: erlang-sd_notify-0.1-10.el7.aarch64.rpm erlang(erl_nif_version) = 2.10 erlang-sd_notify-0.1-10.el7.ppc64le.rpm erlang(erl_nif_version) = 2.10 erlang-sd_notify-0.1-10.el7.x86_64.rpm erlang(erl_nif_version) = 2.10 Here's where I continue to be confused about how I get this into queens-testing. I think the right thing to do is update the cloud7-openstack-queens-testing version in deps.yaml which I thinkI've done with https://review.rdoproject.org/r/11040 So am I on the right track to fix this, if not let me know where I've gone wrong. [infra][outage] Nodepool outage on review.rdoproject.org, December 2

Hi all, We had another nodepool outage this morning. Around 9:00 UTC, amoralej noticed that no new jobs were being processed. He restarted nodepool, and I helped him later with some stale node cleanup. Nodepool started creating VMs successfully around 10:00 UTC. On a first look at the logs, we see no new messages after 7:30 (not even DEBUG logs), but I was unable to run more troubleshooting steps because the service was already restarted. We will go through the logs on Monday to investigate what happened during the outage. Regards, Javier

Problem with TripleO job in rdoinfo to gate deps updates for queens

Hi, The gate job for rdoinfo "rdoinfo-tripleo-master-testing-centos-7-multinode-1ctlr-featureset005-nv" is broken as it's based on non-containerized featureset which is not longer supported in queens. You can ignore the results until it's fixed, we still have weirdo jobs gating dependencies updates. We need to figure out how to test containerized deployment in rdoinfo gate. I'm inclined to build the images on the fly in the undercloud or something like that. Note that we'll need to use it to test CloudSIG repos after GA and currently, images in TripleO periodic jobs are only created for RDO Trunk repos, so we can not update existing images. I'll be on PTO next two weeks, i'll work on it when i'm back. Best regards, Alfredo

Maintenance on review.rdoproject.org *tonight* December 20th 23:00 UTC

Hi, Our apologies for the short notice but review.rdoproject.org will be undergoing maintenance tonight at 23:00 UTC in order to update to operating system and software factory packages to the latest versions. We are planning one hour for the maintenance but it could take longer if we run into unexpected complications. There may brief moments of downtime as we will need to reboot the different instances of the cluster at least once. Please note that while this update will enable us to activate Zuul v3, it will *not* be implemented tonight. Zuul v3 will be installed at a later date, at the very least after the upcoming holiday period.
