[Rdo-list] RDO bookmarks - Feedback requested
by Rich Bowen
Some of you have seen the RDO bookmarks that I hand out at various
events. They were designed 2 years ago by Dave Neary, and have been
updated a few times since then. It's time for another refresh to reflect
the changes in the OpenStack world.
I'm also planning to remove the bit of the bookmark that lists project
names and definitions, since that was already somewhat out of date, and
is even more so given Thierry's blog post from yesterday.
Anyways, I've put the latest version of the source file for the bookmark
at https://openstack.redhat.com/images/bookmark/rdo_bookmark.odt and
would appreciate any feedback from any of you who have opinions
regarding what should/should not be on there, what changes we need to
make, and how we can generally make it more useful to users of RDO and
OpenStack in general.
Thanks!

[Rdo-list] What RH Tempest is best to be used against Kilo?
by Kaul, Yaniv
Is master or Juno more updated?
I'm afraid both are not updated to remove the XML tests which are already gone in upstream.
Are there any plans to contribute tempest-config upstream? (probably the only reason I still use RH's fork?).

[Rdo-list] astapor: using nova_host for vncserver_host is problematic
by Florian Haas
Hi everyone,
in https://github.com/redhat-openstack/astapor/blob/b11e159d/puppet/modules/...,
the nova_host global variable is used to set vncserver_host on the
::nova::compute class (which then uses it to construct the
novncproxy_base_url config option for nova.conf).
That's a bit problematic if your nova_host is an IP address on the
private management network, because that IP address will then show up
as the result of "nova get-vnc-console <host> novnc" and also pop up
in Horizon, but will typically not be reachable from the outside.
If instead you configure your nova_host for the compute nodes to the
*public* IP (or hostname) of your Nova API endpoint, then nova
get-vnc-console returns, and Horizon contains, a publicly available
URL.
However, because
https://github.com/redhat-openstack/astapor/blob/b11e159d/puppet/modules/...
also uses nova_host, then that means that in a Neutron-based
environment, python-neutronclient invoked by nova-compute will now
*also* try to contact Nova via the public IP, which may not be
reachable from inside the management network (and even if it is, that
detour would still seem ugly to me).
So my proposal would be to introduce a separate "vncserver_host"
parameter that defaults to nova_host, such that nova_host can be set
to the private IP and vncserver_host to the public hostname. Does that
make sense?
Cheers,
Florian

The obviously badly communicated idea was to develop packaging for
Kilo in Delorean repos
in case of Packstack that's
https://github.com/openstack-packages/packstack/tree/f20-master
(ignore misnamed branch name, it will be renamed to generic rpm-master)
Benefit is that you automatically get packages for each upstream
commit so you can make adjustment more rapidly and import to Rawhide
only after Kilo-3 milestone when upstream starts to stabilize.
Cheers,
Alan

[Rdo-list] failed to flow_del
by Madko
Hi,
we have a lot of flood in the logs about "failed to flow_del".
/var/log/openvswitch/ovs-vswitchd.log-20150215:2015-02-13T17:43:54.555Z|00011|dpif(revalidator_7)|WARN|system@ovs-system:

Seems ubuntu has same bug :
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1408972
We are using kernel 3.10.0-123.20.1.el7.x86_64
and openvswitch-2.1.2-2.el7.centos.1.x86_64
Is it a known bug on RDO?
Best regards,
Edouard

[Rdo-list] RDO/OpenStack meetups coming up (February 23, 2015)
by Rich Bowen
The following are the meetups I'm aware of in the coming week where RDO
enthusiasts are likely to be present. If you know of others, please let
me know, and/or add them to http://openstack.redhat.com/Events
If there's a meetup in your area, please consider attending. It's the
best way to find out what interesting things are going on in the larger
community, and a great way to make contacts that will help you solve
your own problems in the future.
