hi,
when doing a packstack install over multiple nodes, I need to pre-seed
the machines with centos-release-openstack-liberty.noarch ; should'nt
packstack be able to do that itself given that it does attempt the
rdo-release ( which does not exist on CentOS Linux 7/ ) and epel-release
( which is defunct now, since payload is included entirely in the CentOS
Cloud SIG repos )

As a user, its super irritating that I cant just deploy a bunch of
machines and have packstack do its thing. Having to first login ( or
deploy some config management thing / edit customise kickstarts ) and
have the repos already setup ahead of time seems very non friendly.

Agreed, I've filed https://bugs.launchpad.net/packstack/+bug/1561242 and
I'm proposing it as a blocker for Mitaka release.

I was hoping to propose a patch - is that something still worth doing ?

the EPEL config ), and then finding a way to yum install
centos-release-openstack-<ver> and if not found, yum install
<rdo-release>; that should cover us for folks on CentOS Linux or not.

Please no more options :) EPEL option must actually be removed, I'll
file another blocker for that.
It should be automatic, like rdo-release handling: if host running
packstack has centos-release-openstack-* installed, install it on other
nodes.
