[rdo-list] RDO Mitaka with Ceph Jewel ?

We have run RDO Mitaka with Jewel with no ill effects. We upgraded from Infernalis. Just had to follow the upgrade notes closely, and if there is any doubts there are any remaining Infernalis clients, don't finish upgrading the cluster settings related to dropping older client support.
Thanks,
Kevin

To be honest, I can't remember the fine details as it was quite some time ago. Although, I don't recall any significant issues.
Perhaps it's best for you to evacuate one of your nova-compute node, prior to running updates.
And yeah, as David said, sysvinit -> systemd changes came in during Infernalis. Not a real big deal, although it does change how you interact with Ceph when starting, stopping or restarting components. It's worth familiarising yourself with the docs and changelogs before carrying out any upgrades.

Yes, but switching to systemd is not a big issue I think.
CentOS 7 is systemd-ready :)
My main question is "will it work fine with Mitaka" ? Do I need to upgrade the compute node ceph packages (for openstack integration) ?
I hope the answer is yes but I will be reassured if someone has already try it

Hammer to Jewel also changed from upstart/sysvinit to systemd if
memory serves right ? So it's definitely another tricky part.
And Ceph Luminous just came out too ! :)

Hi,
I would probably upgrade Ceph first.
Hammer to Infernalis was a big jump, mainly looking at the changes with how
the daemon runs under 'ceph' user, instead of 'root'. It also has it's own
quirks (ie. ulimits) too.
I can also confirm that Mitaka + Infernalis works fine (I have that in
production).

I have an Openstack Mitaka cloud with Ceph Hammer at work
We are planning to upgrade ceph to jewel soon but we need to wait a bit
before upgrading to Newton (or superior)
Does any of you run Mitaka with Jewel ? (especially for nova, cinder and
glance)
Thanks
Marianne
