+1, if you has not start to build environment, I think centos7 will be a better start.

I'd recommend against using CentOS6 for new deployments as its no longer supported moving forward. I've upgraded a CentOS6 cloud from 6 to 7 to get it to Kilo, but its not something you want to do if you don't have to.
